I started drawing and painting as a child to slow down my thinking and work through my thoughts ,feelings and ideas. I didn’t recognize or appreciate this gift in my youth . It became a tool I most relied on during times in my life that were difficult. I am a wife and mother to 4 children and 2 dogs. As a career I chose to teach art education so I could help others share in what I call a special place of making and creating .We we’re builders and makers since the beginning of time . Art is my time .
I use many different mediums, such as acrylics, oils, pastels, pen/ink,graphite, markers, metals, glass. I LOVE trying new techniques , experimenting with new mediums. I believe in a growth mindset. The new things I try push me in new directions which help me grow as an artist. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process.
My experiences shape my inspirations. I grew up in a family where being outside hiking, camping kayaking was a regular part of family time. I find being in the woods or on the water is very calming. I enjoy creating artwork from my experiences doing these activities.

My experiences shape my inspirations. I grew up in a family where being outside hiking, camping kayaking was a regular part of family time. I find being in the woods or on the water is very calming. I enjoy creating artwork from my experiences doing these activities.
When my children Irish Danced ,I began making accessories ( crowns , buckles, dresses) as gifts which slowly became a business that brought us around the world to compete.
Recently I created a series of paintings that explain what I was experiencing raising children with mental health and developmental disabilities. In this series I began working with alternative materials to represent the confusion , roadblocks, emotional rollercoaster our family was on .
Teaching has also been my inspiration. I have to be a “jack of all trades” in the classroom . Admitting I am learning something new along with my students has created an environment where we learn from one another collectively. I think that no matter where I am I can find inspiration to create . It is simply how I was created .
